Community Meal -After 20 years, our last meal was served December 20, 2009
We were so proud of our Community Meal Program!   Started in the early 1990s as a means of reaching out to the community around our church, it was held at 5PM on the 3rd Sunday of each month.  It provided our guests a good meal as well as fellowship.  Programs of interest to the group included health/blood pressure screening, Bingo, and talks by specialists on practical home and self-maintenance.  Judy S  organized the dinner each month. The lives she touched are a tribute to her dedication to community service. We will now look for another opportunity for outreach to our community.

Needles and Hooks - This group was formed to promote fellowship and outreach.

A national group called Warm Up America makes afghans for organization with a dire need to keep people warm.  We donate to some of these same groups. The Seamans Church Institiute is also a long standing group that uses knitted items.

With these groups in mind, we are organizing our own group - to come together to make afghans, learn how to knit or crochet, and then apply it to something you would like to do for yourself.

One half of the time for outreach and one half for self growth.

Afghans are made in blocks of work and it's a great way for a beginner to learn. Patterns and samples will be available when you arrive, ready to go.  The group is open to anyone, so bring a fellow knitter or crocheter. Meetings are the second and fourth Mondays of the month at 7:30pm.
